Cheesecake Factory Blackout Cake
Ingredients
- 1 package devil's food cake mix
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 large eggs
- 2 packages (3.9 ounces each) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 1 container (16 ounces) chocolate fudge frosting
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Preparing the Cake
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, oil, water, and eggs. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until blended, then increase the speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and cool completely on a wire rack.
Preparing the Pudding
- In a large bowl, combine the pudding mix and milk. Whisk until blended and let sit for 5 minutes.
- Divide the pudding between the cooled cake layers, spreading it evenly.
Preparing the Frosting
- In a medium bowl, combine the frosting and chocolate chips. Mix until blended.
- Spread the frosting over the top and sides of the cake.
